About the Port-Daniel-Gascons cement plant project

The cement plant project represents an investment of almost $1 billion, including almost $700 million to be invested in the Gaspé region. Once completed, the cement plant will be a model in North America in terms of environmental performance and will meet the highest standards in the world.

The project will create up to 600 jobs during the construction phase and provide permanent direct and indirect employment for 400 people once production begins.

The cement plant project sits on a deposit estimated to contain over 450 million tons of high-quality limestone ideal for cement production. In addition to the purchase of the property, significant development work on the project has already been undertaken including site preparation, the access road and maritime terminal, engineering and necessary environmental upgrades.
