Appointment of Ms. Maryse Tremblay

Port-Daniel – Gascons, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 – McInnis Cement is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Maryse Tremblay as Director of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility for McInnis Cement Inc.

Having served as a communications consultant to McInnis Cement for over a year, Ms. Tremblay will now be responsible for the development of the internal and external communications strategy as well as the corporate social responsibility strategy including developing relationships with all stakeholders.

As a member of the Executive Committee, she will be in charge of implementing and coordinating the strategy with her management colleagues.

“I’m proud to have recruited an experienced communicator with a solid expertise in environmental communications coming from the Gaspesie region”, said Mr. Christian Gagnon, CEO of McInnis Cement. “I’m confident that Ms. Tremblay will convey to our stakeholders the social responsibility values of our company which are illustrated notably by using more environmentally-friendly technologies compared to our competitors”, added Mr. Gagnon.

Resident of Carleton-sur-Mer, Ms. Tremblay has an academic background in History and Human Resources Management, as well as a college education in Communications.  With a front-line experience as communication consultant with PESCA Environnement, a company specialized in environmental consulting services, as political advisor to a former Quebec minister, and as a television journalist in Gaspesie, she has developed a diversified expertise, as well as a deep understanding of the Gaspesie region.  She will divide her time between the Port-Daniel-Gascons office and the McInnis Cement head office in Montreal.

McInnis Cement is currently building a cement plant representing one of the largest industrial project currently in construction in the Eastern part of North America.  The plant will have an initial production capacity of 2.2 million metric tons of cement per year.  It is located in the Port-Daniel–Gascons city in the Gaspesie region.  The site was chosen because of the quality of its limestone deposit and the presence of a deep water maritime terminal. Thanks to its state-of-the-art technology, the Port-Daniel–Gascons cement plant will meet the most stringent environmental standards and will therefore have one of the lowest environmental footprint of the cement industry. Project updates are available on and on Twitter @Ciment_McInnis.
